About Cardigan Press

Short Bio

Cardigan Press is a full service publisher, offering authors a traditional experience on a small press scale. Cardigan first launched in 2020 with an open call for a writing community anthology, featuring short stories, poetry, and non-fiction vignettes about writing life. Founders Jaime Dill and Lizzie Thornton plan to use their combined years of editorial experience to annually produce anthologies while also seeking individual projects to fill a roster for future books.

Expanded FAQ

When was Cardigan Press established?

  • Cardigan Press was established in September of 2020 by Jaime Dill and Lizzie Thornton, who aspired to bring their editorial and publishing skill together for the benefit of writers seeking a traditional publishing experience.

What does Cardigan Press publish?

  • Cardigan launched its first submission call in October of 2020 for an anthology project featuring short stories, poetry, and non-fiction vignettes about writing life. Cardigan editors plan to open call for another such anthology, though with a different theme, in September 2021 and subsequent years as an annual project. Taking queries for individual books is a near future goal with a yet determined timeline.

Is Cardigan Press a traditional publisher?

  • Cardigan Press prides itself on not only being a full service publisher, but a press focused on assisting authors in marketing and author branding. Contributors can expect to be protected by contract, given full editorial service, connected with one another, and marketed to the fullest of Cardigan’s ability at the full expense of the press. All publications by Cardigan are set to wide, international distribution in both print and eBook.

About the Editors

Jaime Dill

Short Bio

Jaime Dill is an accomplished book coach, founder of Polish & Pitch editorial agency, and Editorial Co-Director of Cardigan Press who uses her precious down time to pour her lesser-known self into free-verse poetry.

Long Bio

Co-owner, Editorial Co-Director of Cardigan Press

Jaime Dill is a North Carolinian soul who grew up on a healthy mix of classics, poetry, and young adult fiction. She uses her broad editorial skill by helping other writers as a freelance editor and book coach through her own company, Polish & Pitch, established in 2018. Jaime is most appreciative of editing commercial fiction because it has allowed her to integrate her love of genre fiction with the technical skill gained during her studies as a Creative Writing student. “The line between literary and genre is one many people don’t like to toe, but crossing easily between the two allows imagination and skill to mingle and learn from each other without risk of cancelling each other out.”

Lizzie Thornton

Short Bio

Lizzie Thornton is a freelance editor and book coach who specializes in helping women writers of strong female protagonists.

Long Bio

Co-owner, Editorial Co-Director of Cardigan Press

Lizzie Thornton is a freelance editor and book coach who specializes in helping women writers of strong female protagonists. As a young girl, the world of literature was her solace. Then, while getting her Bachelor’s at USC, she discovered her favorite classes were the workshops. From this grew a love for reading works-in-progress and helping shape creative ideas into something brilliant. “When I read an author’s story that they’ve entrusted to me, I am dedicated and bound to supporting their words. My purpose is not to change their art, but to help better position it in a gallery so more people can be swept away by it”.  When she isn’t working, you can find her chasing her toddler Romeo, trying out new plant-based recipes, or curling up with her latest Lady Lizzie Book Club pick.
